Coffee and post workout

We talked about the benefits of drinking coffee an hour before working out. It increases speed, improves cognitive function and enhances focus.
Now, let's talk about the benefits of drinking coffee after your workout. After a hard workout and a nice stretch, how can we protect our muscles?
There is not a lot of research done on the effects of coffee after the workout. However, as I mentioned in my last blog, caffeine elevates glycogen levels. This is what helps reduce soreness and fatigue.
If you drank your shot of espresso before working out you should be good.
If you did not drink coffee before working, you may want to sip on an iced coffee. It will help avoid that heavy body feeling after a hard workout.
I normally have a small cup of coffee with a dash of milk for protein. The key is to always drink quality specialty coffee.
